So...who am I?

I'M SURE YOUR CURIOUS

There's so much I could tell you about myself. I won't bore you with information about how much I love to drink coffee in the mornings or tell you I like long walks in the midwest sun (which I do). What I will tell you is that I am an experienced photographer and designer who loves working with others to create memories and brands that make them smile.

I graduated from NIU in 2005 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication and a made-up minor in web design & development.

In 2010, I was the Grand Prize Winner in the Amazon Kindle Commercial Contest and I won a bunch of Amazon gift cards which I promptly turned around and spent on a brand new DSLR so I could learn photography.

In 2015, I was laid off from my corporate job in advertising and began my journey as a freelance graphic designer. Since then, I have worked with many different clients helping them create brands, businesses & more!

After graduation, I worked at an advertising agency doing "web design" (aka programming, designing, video editing, etc) for 10 years.

After purchasing a camera and taking some photography classes, I started Deanne Mroz Photography and have been happily photographing families ever since! (for 12 years so far! It's been fun!)

From 2018 to 2020 I was an educator for Shoot Along where I taught parents how to take better photos of their children. I loved helping others tap into their creativity and learn a new skill all while preserving those important memories.

Photography is an art of teleporting the past into the future.
